The poster project!
The beginning of the month, I knew I wanted to do a small project for sexual assualt awareness month. With the help from my bestie @stephperezart who printed the posters, we were able to get these posters all the way from tiny little CT, to Arizona, Maryland, West Virginia, New York, Rhode Island, Mass, Philly, and an attempt to make it Washington (which got lost in the mail) please bare with my poor editing as I tried to squeeze everyone into one post!
After working in this industry for a little bit, the stories I heard from clients and other artists alarmed me. To many people have fallen victim to abuse in an industry that should be full of positivity. Things are always changing, and I think it’s time we highlight that there is, and should not be tolerance for predators in this community. Even if it’s a small project, I think talking about this issue can make small changes and help clients and artists both. There is NO room for abuse in this industry. Call that shit out. Fuck predatory tattooers. Staying silent only hurts victims. We are advocating for safe environments! And luckily, there are so many now!
No one should be made to feel uncomfortable during their tattoo. No one should be sexualized during their appointment, creeped on or preyed on. It is our responsibility to help our clients have an experience that is safe and comfortable.
I’m extremely grateful and thankful to all the amazing people in this project! I’m really at a loss for words here! I’ve wanted to do something like this for a while but never knew if it work. These are all peers and people I look up to, and call myself very lucky to be able to make something like this with everyone! I totally planned on including way more people, but time is never enough and things don’t always go smoothly.
